Off-White Dinner Plate, 26cm

The Off-White Dinner Plate is a ceramic plate in soft off-white — twenty-six centimetres across, three tall — finished in a clean matte glaze with no print, no rim detail, no decorative finish. The whole point is the absence: a plate that recedes so the food becomes the visible thing.

The off-white is warmer than chalk and cooler than cream — closer to handmade paper than to porcelain. The matte finish keeps it quiet under indoor lamps and warm in daylight. The shape has the slightly squared edges of a thali plate rather than a perfect round.

This is the gallery dinner plate of the catalogue. It's built to pair with bolder pieces — a Pink Dawn or Golden Dawn bowl, a Crown Jewel hand-painted serving bowl, a deep-coloured side — letting the colour live on the bowl while the plate stays neutral underneath. It works equally well alone for a quiet meal where neither plate nor food is asking for attention.

A note on how it's made. Each plate is shaped, glazed, and finished by hand. Small variations in glaze depth and rim curve are part of how a handmade ceramic looks.
