Night Sky Dinner Plate, 26cm

The Night Sky Dinner Plate is a ceramic plate in deep matte black — twenty-six centimetres across, three tall, with the slightly squared edges of a thali plate rather than a perfect round.

The matte black absorbs light evenly across the body. White rice, yellow dal, green sabzi all read sharper against it the way food does on a slate plate at a restaurant. Gloss would have created highlights that competed with the food; matte stays out of the way.

Twenty-six centimetres is the standard dinner-plate size — built for a full main course. A plated portion of biryani with raita, a roti-sabzi-dal layout for one, pasta for one, a continental main with vegetables on the side.

Available in sets of 1, 2, 4, and 6. Pairs with the matching Night Sky Quarter Plate for a complete dark-toned table.

A note on how it's made. Each plate is shaped, glazed, and finished by hand. Small variations in glaze depth and rim curve are part of how a handmade ceramic looks.
