Bowl Buddies Big Bowl, Set of 2, 1.2L

The Bowl Buddies Big Bowl is the largest of the Bowl Buddies family, eighteen centimetres across, eight tall, holding 1.2 litres. Available here as a set of 2: two matching ivory bowls with hand-painted dark brown rims that trace the top edge.

The ivory base is matte and warm, closer to the colour of warm sand than to chalk-white. The dark brown rims are hand-painted before firing. The contrast between the cream body and the deep brown border is the whole effect.

1.2 litres at this width is the size for family-style serving, a full salad, a generous pasta, a centrepiece dal, a serving of biryani for two. The flat base sits stably on a counter or placemat.

Each bowl is handmade. The brown rim is painted by hand, so the line thickness and continuity differ slightly across the pair. Stoneware, fired hot.

A note on how it was made

Handmade in a network of skilled artisan studios. The contrasting rim is painted before final firing. No two pieces are quite the same. That's how you know they were made.
