Patchwork Pal Square Ceramic Planter

The Patchwork Pal is a small square planter, eight centimetres on each side, eleven tall, finished with hand-painted patches in mustard, black, and chalk-white that wrap around all four faces. No two sides match. The pattern reads as a deliberate patchwork rather than as a repeated motif.

Each face is painted by hand. The patches are blocked out in geometric segments, then filled in with brushstrokes that show their direction up close. From a distance, the planter reads as a small graphic object; up close, it reads as a hand-painted one.

The square footprint and tallish proportions suit a small upright plant, a young snake plant, a haworthia, a small spineless cactus. Drainage is built in.

A note on how it's made. Each Patchwork Pal is shaped, glazed, and hand-painted before firing. The exact placement of the patches and the brushwork inside them differ slightly piece to piece. The patchwork is the point, and the variation is part of the patchwork.
