Onyx Silk Vase, 30cm

The Onyx Silk Vase is a tall, slim ceramic vase — thirty centimetres high, seven across at the base, with smooth uninterrupted sides and a deep onyx black glaze. The form is the same family as the Ribbed Silk silhouette, but without the ribbing. The surface is unbroken, the glaze is the only thing the eye reads.

The black is full and matte-leaning. Up close it has slight depth where the glaze pools more thickly; from across a room it reads as a single dark vertical line.

The proportions are built for a single tall stem. A branch of magnolia, a few stems of pampas, a single white anthurium. It can also work empty — many do, on shelves, on console tables, in corners where a vertical line is what the room needs.

A note on how it's made. The Onyx Silk Vase is shaped, glazed, and finished by hand. Slight variations in glaze depth are part of the piece, not flaws.

A single vase, wrapped in protective layers and packed in a recyclable kraft carton. Sets of 2 and 4 contain the matching number of vases in the same colourway.
