The Royal Service Platter is a ceramic serving platter — thirty-three centimetres long, twenty-one across, three tall — finished in chalk-white with a blue floral pattern across the body and a side handle for one-handed carrying. The shape is a rectangle with rounded corners; the handle sits at one short end.
The blue floral is hand-painted before firing — small flowers, fine line detail, a continuous pattern that wraps the body without breaking at the rim. Each platter has slight variation in the exact placement and density of the print, which the chalk-white base lets read clearly.
Thirty-three centimetres is the size for a served centrepiece — biryani plated for the table, a row of canapés, a cheese-and-fruit board, a side of grilled vegetables. The handle takes the platter from oven to table without a tray. The blue print sits well against most foods and reads as the visible thing on a neutral table runner.
