Midnight Earth Kulhads, Set of 2, 180ml

The Midnight Earth Kulhad is a small handleless ceramic cup — eight centimetres on each side — finished in deep matte black. The shape draws on the traditional kulhad form: a small cup with no handle, sized for a single quick cup of tea, designed to be held in the palm rather than by a finger.

The deep black is matte. Where a glossy finish would make the kulhads look designer-decorative, the matte gives them the colour and feel of fired earth — closer to a cooked clay vessel than to a polished mug. That's the whole point.

It holds 180ml — a small cup of cutting chai, a single shot of filter coffee, a quick cup of green tea. The kulhad sits comfortably in a closed palm, which is part of how it's meant to be drunk: cradled rather than gripped by a handle.

A note on how it's made. Each kulhad is shaped, glazed, and finished by hand. The form is traditional, the construction is contemporary. Small variations in wall thickness and glaze depth are part of how a handmade ceramic looks.
