The Crown Jewel is a large ceramic serving bowl — twenty-three centimetres across, seven deep, holding two full litres — hand-painted with a blue and white Moroccan pattern across the entire body. The motif draws on tile traditions from across North Africa: arabesque florals, geometric borders, dense detail packed corner to corner.
Each bowl is hand-painted before firing. The blue is the deep cobalt of traditional Moroccan tilework; the white is the chalk-white of the ivory base. Because the painting is freehand, no two Crown Jewel bowls are identical — the motifs share a vocabulary, but the painter's hand reads differently on each piece.
Two litres is the size for a centrepiece — a full salad for a family meal, a generous pasta for a dinner table, a fruit bowl that holds enough for visible abundance.
A note on how it's made. Each bowl is shaped, glazed, and hand-painted before firing. The painter works freehand. Small variations in pattern density, brushwork, and registration are part of the piece.
