Stoneware

Tested for safety. Bone ash free. Fired up to 1200 degrees Celsius. Built to last a lifetime.

What is Stoneware Pottery?

Stoneware is the material of choice for ceramics that need to work as hard as they look good. Fired at 1200°C, the clay body vitrifies completely, becoming dense, non-porous, chip-resistant, and built for the rigours of a real kitchen.

Claymistry stoneware is tested for safety, bone ash free, and made entirely without animal-derived materials. Every piece is handcrafted in India by legacy artisans whose pottery tradition predates most modern kitchenware brands by several centuries.

These are pieces designed to be used every day, for decades.

The Craft

Handcrafted. Fired at 1200°C. Ready for a lifetime.

Each piece begins as raw stoneware clay, dense, plastic, and handcrafted by our legacy artisans. Once formed and dried, the piece is bisque fired, glazed with glazes tested for safety, and fired a second time at 1200°C in an electric kiln.

At that temperature, the clay and glaze fuse into a single, vitrified body. The surface becomes glass-like, smooth, non-porous, and completely sealed. No bacteria, no moisture absorption, no staining. Just good ceramic that works.
