Recycled Ceramic
Ceramic waste, reimagined. 35% stronger. 60% less mining. 100% beautiful.
What is Recycled Ceramic?
Every year, ceramic manufacturing generates enormous quantities of fired waste — production rejects, broken kiln loads, offcuts. Most of it ends up discarded. Our recycled ceramic collection gives this material a second life.
Post-industrial ceramic waste is pulverised into a fine powder, mixed with a natural clay binder, and re-fired into new pieces. The result is a clay body that is denser, stronger and more durable than standard virgin ceramic — and carries a significantly lower environmental footprint.
It looks and feels like premium ceramic. Because it is.

How It's Made
Waste in. Heirloom out.
The ceramic waste is sourced from manufacturing facilities, pulverised into uniform powder, and mixed with a natural clay binder — no cement, no resin, nothing that prevents the material from being recycled again at end of life.
The mixture is cast or thrown, dried, and fired at 1200°C. Glazes are lead-free and food-safe certified. What emerges is a piece indistinguishable in quality from virgin ceramic — and measurably better in strength.
The natural clay binder is the key innovation. It means this isn't downcycling — the finished piece can re-enter the production cycle and loop indefinitely.
About Recycled Ceramic
-
Recycled ceramic is made using post-industrial ceramic waste — the production rejects and fired offcuts from ceramic manufacturing facilities — which are pulverised, mixed with a natural clay binder, and re-fired into new pieces. Rather than being discarded, this waste is transformed into a material that is actually stronger and more sustainable than what it came from.
-
Better, in several ways. The recycled ceramic material used in our pieces is approximately 35% stronger than standard virgin ceramics, because the ceramic grog (pulverised fired waste) densifies the clay body. It is equally food safe, equally beautiful, and considerably lighter on the planet.
-
Yes, completely. All our recycled ceramic pieces are 100% food safe, certified with no heavy metals in the glazes, and safe for everyday use with food and beverages. They are also microwave safe and dishwasher safe.
-
Conventional ceramic production requires significant raw clay mining. Our recycled ceramic pieces require 60% less mining and produce approximately 22% lower carbon emissions compared to virgin ceramic production. By choosing recycled ceramic, you are directly reducing demand for new raw material extraction — without compromising on quality or aesthetics.
-
Yes — this is what makes it genuinely circular rather than just 'less bad'. Because natural clay binders are used (not cement or resin), the finished pieces can be pulverised and fed back into the production cycle. The material loops, rather than downcycles.
